A Note from the Founder:

There are things you do because you’re paid to do them. And then there are the things you do because you love to do them.

Mentoring, for me, falls into this second category.

I discovered a passion for mentoring in the early 1980s.  A young woman with incredible potential was the receptionist for a large consulting firm where I worked. At that company, the receptionist position had little pay and little opportunity for promotion.

I took it upon myself to be her mentor. I pushed her to perform new tasks outside of her comfort zone. I made her cry (not intentionally), but most importantly, I helped her soar. She was so smart but so insecure and felt she needed to stay in her “place”…whatever that meant. I was able to push her and shove her then hold her and hug her, until she too realized she was way too smart to check her ambition with the title of receptionist.

I was so excited when she handed in her resignation and pursued a career as an account executive! Her life changed but I may have learned more from that experience then she did.

I met Ann Miller in the early 2000’s and we became business partners and friends.  We also discovered a shared view of women in business and the hurdles that exist in a women’s career path.  We hoped to make a difference someday.

Fast-forward to 2016 we are still passionate about mentoring and now very excited to have the opportunity to do something about it. Lessons Earned was born.

Our mentors are experienced, smart, and savvy, ready to share our secrets of success, to lend an ear, shoulder and sometimes even a foot! We are solvers, givers, planners and most of all women. Our wheels are turning at all hours of the day and night, dealing with our work as well as dealing with personal and family needs.

Our mentees are going to help shape the future boardrooms of America. They are going to demand their seat at the table. They are going to hold center stage, direct the energy that will create their careers, their companies, their communities, and their world.

Mentoring changes lives. It increases confidence and self-esteem. It can make a huge difference in the quality of life and career for women. Lessons Earned is positioned to empower women to stand tall and take their rightful seat at the table of life.

I am so grateful that my friend and colleague, Ann Miller, joined me on this journey.

We look forward to meeting you soon!
